Notice of Race 2026 - Cyprus Coastal Regatta

Limassol Marina is proud to organize THE CYPRUS COASTAL REGATTA 2026, open to all sailing boats.

RULES
The regatta will be governed by the following rules and regulations:
  • The racing rules of sailing (RRS) 2025 – 2028
  • The O.R.C. Rating System 2026
  • IMS 2026 rule
  • The WS Offshore Special Regulations 2024 – 2026 for Race Category 4 monohulls
  • No national prescriptions will apply
If there is a conflict between languages, English text will take precedence.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at the Skipper's Meeting. The scheduled route is approximately 37 Nautical Miles and will be finalized at the Skipper's Meeting.

COMMUNICATION
  • The Official Notice Board will be via the WhatsApp application.
  • The Race Committee may broadcast information to the fleet on VHF channel 71 at the start and finish or during racing.
  • VHF channels 16 and 71 will be continuously monitored by the Race Committee while racing.
  • Except in emergency or when communicating with the Race Committee, a boat that is racing, shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.
  • One drive sharing documents.

ELIGIBILITY
  • The regatta is open to all boats with valid ORC International or ORC Club certificate or ORC Light rating by the ORC authority in Cyprus.
  • Boats without any ORC certificate should contact CYP ORC Rating Officer at geophilcyp@hotmail.com. The ORC technical staff will help to rate the boat based on similar boat data and data you will provide.
  • Sport Boats can participate as long as they can pass the minimum safety requirements which include but not limited to navigation lights, safety gear and an Anchor.

CLASSES
  • The event will be constituted with two classes
  • ORC Class certificate of maximum 3 years old
  • ORC Light rated Class. This is the class that will have an ORC handicap by approximation based on similar boat data. For this regatta this class will be referenced as Cruising Class
  • The decision for class divisions will be made by the Race Committee and cannot be ground for a request for redress and shall be based on number of participants.

ENTRIES
  • Entries should be submitted directly to Kleanthis Hadjisoteriou by 15th April 2026.

  • There will be NO Entry fee for the Cyprus Coastal Regatta 2026
  • All boats wishing to berth at Limassol Marina need to complete and return their Entry Form (Appendix A), together with a copy of their boat’s Third Party Insurance.

REGISTRATION
The following documents shall be presented prior to or at Skippers’ Meeting:
  1. Valid ORC International or Class certificate or a Valid ORC Light Certificate issued for the Event
  2. Valid third-party insurance
  3. Crew list with name & surname
  4. Contact phone number both on boat and land, including the name of contact person
  5. Liability acceptance form, duly completed and signed

  • No changes shall be made on ORC certificates after 10:00 on April 15th, unless prescribed by the Measurement Committee and approved by the Race Committee
  • Measurement protests by the boats shall be accepted up to two hours after the posting of the final ratings.
  • Crew lists may be amended by April 30th up the Skippers meeting, by filling a new form showing the changes.

ADVERTISING
Competitors & Boats advertising will be with restriction.
Event Advertising by the Organizing Authority will be:
  1. Bow numbers with advertisements which must be displayed, as forward as possible on both sides of the hull provided by the Organizing Authority.
  2. Organizer’s flags must be flown on the backstay throughout the race.
SCHEDULE

Thursday, 30th April 2026
18:00 — Skipper's Meeting at Yacht Club, Limassol Marina

Friday, 1st May 2026
10:00 — Warning Signal
11:00 — Starting Line Closes
23:59 — Finish Gate Closes

Saturday, 2nd May 2026
18:00 — Prize Giving at Limassol Marina

This is a one-race regatta.
No warning signal will be made after 12:00.

VENUE
The event will start and finish in front of Limassol Marina.

SCORING
The low point scoring system of WS RRS 2025–2028, Appendix A, will apply. There will be overall results for each class.

TIME CORRECTION SYSTEM
The ORC offshore rating Time on Time will be used.

SAFETY REGULATIONS
A boat that retires from a race shall notify the Race Committee as soon as possible, providing the following information:
  • Bow Number
  • Boat Name
  • Sail Number
  • Time and position at the moment of retirement
  • Next Port of Call
  • Reason for retirement

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
RRS 3 states: "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone." By participating in the Cyprus Coastal Regatta, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform, and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia, or other causes.

MOORING
Mooring will be available in Limassol Marina, upon previous arrangement with the Organisers, from 29th of April to the 3rd of May 2026. Mooring for the participating boats is free of charge excluding water and electricity consumption, if any. Berthing at the Marina is subject to Terms & Conditions, as shown at the OfficialMarina Berthing Application form. All yachts prior to arrival or departure from the Marina must notify the Limassol Marina on Channel 12 of their movements.

Yachts without a valid third-party Insurance will not be accepted in the Marina. Any yacht arriving or departing the Limassol Marina prior the 29th of April or after the 3rd of May will be charged 40 Euro/per day + VAT for a maximum of up to 2 days. Normal Marina Berthing Rates prior and thereafter will apply..

Participants are to respect the hospitality at the Marina and its Rules and Regulations. Any Violations will give the right to Limassol Marina to refuse Berthing at their waters.

PRIZES
  • Trophies will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner Line Honors
  • Trophies will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner overall of the ORC Class
  • Trophies will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winner overall Cruising Class
  • Further Classes, prizes and trophies may be awarded to crews and boats based on number of participating Boats.
